She will be the lone filly in the race, taking on the boys in the Belmont Stakes. To make things more interesting, Pletcher chose the outstanding female Jockey Rosie Napravnik to ride her.
Unlimited Budget has 4 wins from 5 lifetime starts, her only loss coming in the prestigious Kentucky Oaks where she ran a credible 3rd.
Pletcher has had prior success running fillies against the boys, Rags To Riches another filly trained by Todd Pletcher, won the Belmont stakes in 2007.
Rosie Napravnik has already had some success in this years triple crown too, she finished a creditable 5th in the Derby aboard Mylute and she bested that finish aboard the same horse in the Preakness. Mylute and Rosie finished 3rd in the Preakness Stakes.
5th in the derby, 3rd in the Preakness ?? Seems like she is moving in the right direction toward the winners circle for the Belmont Stakes.
One things is for sure, with a lone female horse and lone female jockey in the race riding her. Saturday's Belmont Stakes will truly be a girls versus boys event.
