Following winning trainers in this game is often a key to success. The top trainers all have a knack of improving horses. That's why they are the top trainers. The move I like however, is a horse that has been running fairly or poorly for a moderate or lesser trainer. Who now switches to a top trainers care and shows immediate improvement. I noticed this move on Mon, March 25th at the Fairgrounds. Repository (4yo, filly), had recently switched to top trainer Thomas Amoss and showed immediate improvement by winning. Although it took a class drop to do it. Today she was returning to the allowance level against a solid field. She was a bit surprisingly being backed down to the favorite. But playable at 9-5. I took the comment from the lady in the paddock as a telling sign. She said that the horse looks much better today under Thomas Amoss's Care. She blew that allowance field away.
You will see this move time and again at the track. A horse switching to a
top trainers barn and showing immediate improvement. These kind of horses
will often improve rapidly and should be played until they turn in a poor
effort. I have seen top trainers take horses from claiming to a stakes win
before. Often paying good prices on the way up the class ladder. |
