Funny Cide , the improbable New York bred gelding, will have a chance to make history this Saturday. When he goes for the Triple Crown and the Visa $5 million dollar bonus.

Not since Affirmed in 1978 has a horse won the three races that consist of the Triple Crown in a single year. Those races in succession are the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes. It is an extraordinary test for any 3 year old. One that becomes even more impressive when you look at the ever increasing competition to win these races from a global perspective.

After somewhat of an improbable Kentucky Derby win, being that he became the first gelding to win the race in ages and the first New York bred to ever win. He backed it up with a dominant win in the Preakness proving that his Derby win was no fluke. Now he is poised to do something very special indeed, something very exciting to horse racing fans, become a triple crown winner.

There will be some competitors standing in his way though and his stiffest challenge will most likely come from Derby runner-up Empire Maker.

But on Saturday there is only one horse that can take center stage and make history, his name is Funny Cide.
