Find A Horse That Loves The Distance |

I try to
find horses that love the distance they are running at today. Sometimes
you can catch a price on these types of horses if they are switching from
an unsuitable distance or surface and returning to their preferred
distance.
Bidis a 5yo gelding was such a horse on Sunday, Jun, 30th. His last race was at a mile which probably did not suit him and it was on grass a surface that he had never been on before. He was backed down to 5-1 and ran a very dull race. Today he was switching back to his preferred 6f distance. The kicker for me was that he is a was a perfect 10 for 10 in the money at 6f. His form had tailed off a bit in his last few 6f events but he continued to battle on gamely and in every instance held a pretty clear margin for 3rd. This is an example of a gutsy little horse who will almost always give his best and be there somewhere in the finish. In other words a pretty clear banker horse in the race. He went off at 4-1 in the race and after battling 3 abreast on the turn (a tough trip at churchill). Was no match for the winner but once again held a clear margin for 3rd. What was a bit surprising is that he returned a generous $4.80 to show in a 6 horse field. What is also interesting is that if you look at his last 4 sprint races, he finished 3rd in every start. That makes it 5 sprint starts in a row where he finished 3rd and now 11 for 11 in the money at 6f. In other words his finish was very predictable this afternoon. .
