Exceptional Colt IL Campione Sold After Win In Chilean Derby |
February, 22, 2015 - After romping home in the
Chilean Derby (El Derby de Chile) by more than 9 lengths, at the
Valparaiso Sporting Club.
The super star Chilean horse has been sold to U.S. owners. Most fans in Chile seem a little saddened at the news of their home town hero being sold. IL Campione was an especially popular horse here in Chile and the fans showed up in droves to watch him race. Many were especially proud of the horse because he is owned by rags to riches soccer hero Arturo Vidal. The horse was reeling off wins here in Chile in Group 1 races and making it look frightfully easy. IL Campione is a 3 year old colt and is a son of the hot sire Scat Daddy. IL Campione was previously trained by Sergio Inda in Chile, he is reported to be joining the stable of trainer Chad Brown. This horse has shown an ability to run on both dirt and turf, however he appears better on the grass. IL Campione's regular rider here in Chile was Hector Berrios. The reported sale price for IL Campione was £1.3 million. It's no wonder he was sold, to turn down an offer of that price would be hard for most owners. Click Here For Complete List Of Articles |
