Ron the Greek could be peaking for Breeders' Cup Classic

10/30/2013 - Bill Mott sends out two horses for this year's Breeders' Cup classic. These horses include Ron the Greek and Flat Out.

Our selection for this year's Breeders' Cup classic is Ron the Greek. He's run seven times this year, with two wins and two third-place finishes. He's also earned over $1 million.

His latest win came in the Jockey Club Gold cup at Belmont Park, where he was an easy winner that day. He has shown that he can handle Santa Anita in the past, as he won the Santa Anita handicap here in 2012. His other start at Santa Anita was a fourth-place finish, in the 2013 Big Cap.

Our second selection is Mucho Macho Man, he put on an impressive performance in the Awesome Again stakes here at Santa Anita, in his most recent start. He also beat the talented horse Paynter in that race and look good doing it.

Mucho Macho Man ran in the Breeders' Cup classic here last year at Santa Anita and finished second. We know he likes this track, look for another good run this year.

Some are probably asking where is Game On Dude in our selections? Well, over the years the classic has not been kind to favorites. In fact, Game On Dude was the heavy favorite here last year at Santa Anita in the classic and finished a disappointing seventh.

There is also a ton of speed in this year's classic, we think that sets up poorly for Game On Dude.

Good luck in this year's Breeders' Cup and enjoy the races, they are bound to be good.
