A Preview Of The Breeders Cup Classic

It's one of the richest races in the world, second in purse only to the Dubai World Cup. It attracts horses and jockeys from all over the world. It is the $4,000,000 Breeders Cup Classic. Here is our breakdown of this weekends race.

With 12 slated to start for this years Classic it looks to be another highly talented and wide open event.

Starting with War Emblem there is a ton of speed in this years Classic. War Emblem has shown little ability to rate and that has to be a major concern going into the big event.

Another speedster in the field is E. Dubai who races for the Godolphin stable. This 4yo Mr. Prospector colt is very quick from the gate and will certainly not give War Emblem an easy lead.

Medaglia d'Oro trained by Bobby Frankel and ridden by Jerry Bailey is another who likes to be up on or near the lead. His race in the Travers showed that he can rate just of the speed and that to me should prove a big tactical advantage in the race.

Came Home is another quality on the pace runner, with his best efforts coming on or near the pace. Like his wire to wire effort at 1 1/8 miles in the Swaps stakes at Hollywood Park.

The horses who should benefit from a lively pace are

Hawk Wing, this 3yo European colt does his best running from behind and is proven at the 1 1/4 distance in Europe. However, he has yet to prove himself on the dirt.

Macho Uno is certainly a runner that will benefit from a lively tempo, remember that he finished a fast closing 4th in this race last year.

Milwaukee Brew is something of a come from behind specialist as he often comes from far back but is capable of unleashing some big late rallies. His Grade1 win in the Santa Anita Handicap at this distance puts him in the hunt.

Evening Attire has recently put himself in the Classic picture with a powerful looking win in the Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park. With 3 wins from 4 starts at 1 1/4 miles he has to be respected. His late running style should set him up nicely once again in the classic.

Don't be afraid to go deep in this race, especially if your are playing the superfecta and make sure that you are getting value for your money. With that being said the horses we like are

Medaglia d'Oro And Hawk Wing.
Our longshot play would be Milwaukee Brew.

Good luck on Saturday!!
